The world desperately needs radical left-wing change, and yet, none seems to be forthcoming. This exacerbates the strong pressures on us at university and at work to focus single-mindedly on our careers and personal prospects. So why shouldn’t we? This session is about rejecting the individualism that is both cultivated by, and highly favourable to, the capitalist status quo. We’re never going to be capable of challenging capitalism unless as many of us as possible commit to being politically active, being in an organisation, and having insurgent working-class politics. That’s what being a socialist is about.
